Skyhouse

Branding

A Vision of the Future Past

Background
Skyhouse is a three-story penthouse apartment set in the ornamental crown of an iconic 19th century Lower Manhattan skyscraper. This was the most ambitious project to date for SilverLining, a builder of luxury residences in New York City. SilverLining wanted their first brand film to explore the conceptual ideas behind architect David Hotson’s iconoclastic design, to examine the challenges they faced in executing his vision, and to impart a sense of dwelling in this futuristic space.

Execution
Through extensive conversations with SilverLining management team and David Hotson, as well as time spent in the penthouse designing the production, we developed a plan for how to simplify the story of the two and a half year design/build process and how to convey the complexity and scale of the residence.

Results
SilverLining premiered the completed film at an invitation-only screening event at the Time Warner Center for over 100 top tier New York architects before featuring it on their website. Skyhouse was spotlighted by numerous mainstream news outlets, as well as many architecture, interior design, and luxury lifestyle websites, and invited to screen at the prestigious Architecture Film Festival Rotterdam. The film and the attention it received burnished Silverlining’s already stellar reputation and helped bring forth several new large-scale project referrals from high-end architects and designers.
